Our History

Collaborative for Children was formed in 2004 by the merger of the Greater Houston Collaborative for Children and Initiatives for Children. For years the two separate organizations worked to:

  • Offer information to working parents on the available resources for their children,
  • Provide consulting, training and mentoring for child care professionals,
  • Educate the community on the importance of quality early care and education,
  • Identify ways to better utilize limited resources.

Although our name has changed, our focus has not. We are still working with parents, child care professionals and others to strengthen the quality of early care and education, and help children reach their full potential.
